FETHİ POLAT
Born in 1965, Fethi Polat expanded his family’s fuel trading business by establishing his own first fuel station in 1984. After nearly nine years of growth in this sector, he sold his fuel stations in Şanlıurfa, Suruç, Mardin, and Aydın, as well as his shares in Demir Döviz in Adana, to enter the industrial sector.
In 1996, he purchased a 50,000 m² plot in the 1st Organized Industrial Zone of Şanlıurfa and established a cotton ginning and pressing factory. In addition to this facility, he expanded his investments with a ring spinning mill with 18 machines and 20,832 spindles, as well as 5 combing group machines, commissioning the yarn factory in 1998.
Alongside his work in textiles, he also engaged in construction activities abroad between 2005 and 2007. In the northern region of Iraq, he successfully completed two oil loading-unloading and storage facilities with a contract value of $25,550,000, and also delivered a public building construction project in the same region with a contract value of $17,058,114.
In 2009, he began large-scale cattle breeding activities on the Şanlıurfa-Göbeklitepe road.
In 2011, he established a 150 MW power plant in the northern region of Iraq under a Build-Operate model. This plant makes a significant contribution to meeting the region’s electricity needs. In 2013, he also realized industrial investments in the northern region of Iraq.
With the partnership of Unit and IFC, his company Polteks Energy Ltd. has signed a second energy project in Northern Iraq, with the first phase at 840 MW and expected to reach 1,260 MW in the future, which is currently in the investment stage.
MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRMAN
ChatGPT:
Pol Holding has great ambitions. The goals we have built over nearly 40 years are undoubtedly fueled by our ability to accurately interpret the richness of the geography in which we operate, as well as our country’s increasingly strong position among the world’s economies.
We believe in this land. We believe that knowledge is the “foundation.” We strive to blend the capital of our age—knowledge—with the wealth of these lands. We believe in people and we value them. At every stage, from production to management, we move forward with qualified professionals.
We aim to shape all our projects in the right fields and, of course, at the right time—bringing together the right knowledge with the right human resources.
Anyone who takes a look at Pol Holding’s projects in the energy sector can clearly see traces of this approach I have described above.
Our investments in Turkey and Iraq are growing rapidly. Our power plant in Iraq’s Kurdistan Autonomous Region, where we have been active for almost 15 years, is of vital importance for a region that is rapidly moving towards the modern world. We are currently in the process of expanding this facility. Approval has already been received from the local government to increase its capacity from 150 MW to 500 MW.
Our other significant venture in production is being realized in partnership with Unit Group and IFC. The project, which consists of two phases and has a total capacity of 1,260 MW, is targeted to become operational in 2017.
With our investments spread across the energy, industry, agriculture and livestock, real estate, and service sectors, we continue to move forward each day with even greater strength.
Finally—and I must emphasize this above all else—we attach great importance to social responsibility. As in the past, and even more so in the future, we will continue to contribute to projects aimed at protecting nature and aligned with the moral and social fabric of society.
On this occasion, I would like to thank, above all, our employees who work hard for the success of our organization, as well as all the individuals and institutions we collaborate with, and wish everyone a bright future.
